Continuing with Pinhole Cameras . . .

5/25/2015

Good morning and good afternoon, students.  Let's continue constructing our pinhole cameras!

Tuesday - Remove all masking tape from the camera body.  Spray paint the interior of the camera black.  Let dry.
Study the website http://www.abelardomorell.net/. We're turning our class room into a giant camera obscura.  Help cover the windows with black paper and/or black trash bags.

Wednesday - Cut a one-inch square piece of aluminum and pierce with a push pin following teacher demonstration.  Fix over the aperture (interior side) with black duct tape, centering the tiny pinhole.  Attach black lid to box with clear packing tape.  Near the end of class we will turn off the lights to see if our classroom-sized camera obscura works.

Thursday - Scout a location for your photo.  Take camera to location.  Place on a surface that does not move.  Open the shutter, and expose the light sensitive paper.  Close shutter.  Return camera to darkroom.

Friday - Watch BBC Video:  David Hockney's Secret Knowledge about the camera obscura.
