 The great thing about professional development for art teachers is that it almost always involves making art. My colleagues and I were invited to participate in a printmaking workshop given by Yu Kanazawa during the last week of June at the Polk Museum of Art. "Zowie" is department chair at SUNY Jamestown and a very enthusiastic printmaker. In addition to having us make monotypes and monoprints (must include a repeatable matrix), he clarified the screen printing process and introduced us to blockprinting on shina wood. It's going to take me a while to get my 12" x 9" piece finished, and my fingers have been plenty sore, but I think I will like the results. This was a great workshop! |   |
